About Us

Chinese Musicians Association of America was founded in 2007 and was formerly known as California Youth Chinese Symphony. Its mission is to promote Chinese music, its performance, education and global exchange in the American community.
Before Chinese Musicians Association of America has taken on its new name, California Youth Chinese Symphony has established a foundation in promoting Chinese music education in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since the organization was formed, there had been several hundreds of students who participated in the music program to learn about Chinese music and Chinese instruments. In 2008, it started to collaborate with the Central Conservatory of Music of China and hosted the Chinese instrument grade level examination in the Bay Area for students from all regions of America and the examination has continued to take place annually. It has also hosted several international Chinese instrument competitions together with the Chinese Performing Arts of America, including the 2008 and 2010 World Cup International Chinese Instrument Competition and the 2009 PIVD Competition.

美國華人音樂家協會前身是加州青年國樂團，為了更適應全美的需要及發展，更名後的美國華人音樂家協會是在美國的華人音樂家組成的專業性團體。宗旨推動中國民族音樂在美國的發展，促進音樂表演與音樂教育的提高，繼承與開拓中國民族音樂，促進與世界各國音樂團體和個人之間的音樂交流。

在沒有更名之前，加州青年國樂團的專業教師始終努力不懈地為中華文化的海外傳承辛苦耕耘，成功搭建了中國民族器樂在北美普及與弘揚的堅實平台，2007年創建了美國加州青年國樂團，現擁有100多人的團員陣容，為社會培養出數百名優秀民樂人才。自2008年始，與中國中央音樂學院合作，在美國舉辦每年一度的中國民樂水平考級。同時與美國飛揚藝術團聯合主辦國際民族器樂大賽，已歷經幾屆為東西方音樂文化的交流做出今人瞩目的貢獻。
